The city of Richmond, which lies along the beautiful James River, is the capital of the state of Virginia.
Richmond's origins date back to 1607 when the English formed their second successful settlement in Richmond. The city’s rich history has played a pivitol role in the foundation of the United States. During the Revolutionary War, Patrick Henry proclaimed, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” from the pulpit at St. Johns Church. Likewise, Richmond was home to the Confederacy during the Civil War.
